NEW BEGINNINGS COUNSELLING SERVICE
- Feeling overwhelmed or depressed?
- Need someone to listen to you and help you work out what’s most important?
- Have an issue or situation that’s seriously affecting your day-to-day life?
- Can’t make important decisions and are not sure what to do next?
We all experience change in our lives, some change we find easy to deal with, but at other times coping with change can be quite difficult and challenging. It’s at those times that it can often help to be able to talk things over.
Talking to someone professionally trained in supporting you while you are going through a difficult time can be extremely beneficial and can help you look at things with a fresh perspective. Just knowing that there is space and time put aside just for you makes all the difference.
By talking to our experienced counsellor you may feel better, resolve problems, come to terms with things that cannot be changed or, perhaps, decide to make some real changes in your life.
In certain situations the help of a trained counsellor may be well worth considering.
Myth: Counsellors tell you what to do and sort out your life for you.
Reality: Good counsellors listen, support and challenge, so that you’re able to come up with your own solutions. They do not tell you what to do and sort out your life for you.
Myth: You only need to see a counsellor if you have an insurmountable problem or have been abused or something has happened to you.
Reality: Many people need someone to confide in, not just those who have difficult issues to deal with. Counselling helps YOU deal with things that are getting on top of you or are getting in the way of living your life.
Myth: Everyone should be able to solve their own problems. You only need to see a counsellor if you can’t cope.
Reality: Deciding to discuss your problems with a counsellor doesn’t mean you’re unable to cope. Many people see a counsellor to help them sort something out that's worrying them, often because they don't feel they want to worry or burden their family.
